About

The gilt gold paint against the polished black of the lacquered elmwood makes a striking contrast. The four front panels are each painted with an auspicious bird: the hawk symbolizes being bold; the pheasant is an emblem for good fortune; the crane stands for longevity; and the phoenix for luck and resilience. Over 150 years ago this coffer served as a storage chest for a family living in China’s Shanxi Province. Additional Dimensions Drawers: 11"W x 16.75"D x 3.5"H Top shelf: 62.75"W x 20.5"D x 10.25"H Bottom shelf: 62.75"W x 20.5"D x 9.25"H.
