Early 20th Century Tianjin Cabinet
About the Item
A very handsome square-cornered cabinet from Tianjin, approx. 100 years old. Made of Elm and Pine woods, we had left the beautiful original reddish brown colour on this piece original, finishing it with a semi-matte clear lacquer. The solid brass hardware on this cabinet had partially been replaced; the drawer rectangular plates and handles are old, the hinge plates are also old, however instead of the original brass pins that secured it to the cabinet, a previous repair was made, and the pins were replaced with screws. The door plates are new, but great attention has been paid to ensuring that the corner details match the old ones. The shelf inside is the original plank and is removable, the shelf height is 22cm (top) & 24cm (bottom).
