Burmese Silver Tree of Life Oval Lidded Box
About the Item
An unusual and very fine antique Burmese silver oval box the cover decorated with a Tree of Life probably dating from the early 20th Century. The box is of flat oval shape with finely pierced cover and sides standing on a flat base. The hinged cover is applied in low relief with a large tree with various birds sitting on the branches with some birds in flight. The branches are applied with leaves and small flowers set against a patterned pierced ground. The edge is also pierced and decorated with scroll leaf and floral patterning. The box is not marked. One of several examples we will be offering from an extensive collection of silver originating from the Middle and Far East.
Provenance: From the extensive collection of a distinguished lady acquired in the Middle East and fresh to the market.
In good condition with wear associated with age and use.
