About the Item

Japanese bronze image of Tanjo no Shaka, the infant Buddha (Shakyamuni), a standing figure with the right hand pointing towards heaven and the left hand pointing toward earth, costumed just in a layered skirt, standing on a stylized lotus pedestal, somewhat stylized overall with pointed index fingers, heavy darkened surface layer. Minor signs of wear and use otherwise fine condition. Wood storage box. 5-1/4 in. high. Edo period, circa 1850.
