Old wishing wooden plaque with iron sickle and sword as ‘Ema’ handmade by Japanese blacksmith and dedicated to Shinto shrine to ward off evil spirit and conflagration. approx. 23.7 x 39 x 2.7cm (9.33 x 15.35 x 1.06in). Early 20th century, Japan. Quite a unique composition with refined simplicity. Heavy and solid thick wood, with natural slight distortion as is.
