About the Item
A Pair of Bronze Carp Sculptures by Hiramatsu Koshun
This pair of bronze carp sculptures is a beautiful and unique work of art by the well-known Japanese artist Hiramatsu Koshun. Koshun was born in 1896 and lived in Osaka, where he studied under Ktsura Koshun. He exhibited frequently at the Nitten, a prestigious Japanese art exhibition, and won many prizes.
The sculptures measure 13.5 x 2.5 cm (5.5 x 1 inch) H 3 cm (1 inch) each and weigh 570 g (1.3 lb) for the pair.
The carps are beautifully rendered, with their scales and fins perfectly captured in bronze. The sculptures are in good condition, with some minor abrasions due to age. They are from the Showa period, the mid-20th century.
The sculptures are a perfect example of Koshun's mastery of bronze casting. The carp is a symbol of strength, perseverance, and good luck in Japanese culture.
