About the Item

A Rare and Large Pair of 19th Century French Ormolu Mounted Chinese Cloisonné Vases Signed by Lacarrière Frères & Delatour. Lacarrière foundery began in 1825, crafting gas lighting fixtures that dazzled the city. Their brilliance shone brightly, earning them medals at Paris Expositions in 1834, 1839, and 1844, and a place at over a dozen Expositions Universelles. Each bulbous large Chinese Cloisonne vase which date to the late 1700's-Early 1800's is mounted on French ormolu mounts. The Cloisonne method involves the placement of delicate metal wire partitions to create minute compartments, in this case each hosting stylized floral motifs. These sections acted as a guide when the vases were then hand-painted with enamels in vivid regal tones of emerald green, sapphire blue Lapis, vibrant red, accompanied by softer hues of yellows, pinks, and chartreuse. Around the bulbous bodies are cloisonné decorations of the eight Daoist symbols, demonstrating the importance of these large vases. The lower band boasts a collection of stylized ferns, while the main body is an orchestra of multi-colored Chrysanthemum blossoms interconnected by the delicate dance of curling vines. Each vase has upper and lower ormolu mounts. A gorgeous collar of ormolu bronze elegantly encircles the necks of these vases, its cutouts and scrolls contrasting magnificently with the alluring turquoise countenance. At rest, they perch upon six sinuously curled scrolled feet. Each vase bears Qianlong stickers. The Chinese Cloisonne vases date to Late 1700's/Early 1800's The Ormolu Mounts dating to Mid 1800's Paris, signed by Lacarriere Freres & Delatour
