About the Item
A charming medium-size six-panel byôbu (folding screen) with a vibrant polychrome painting of a rooster with its family amidst a luscious flower garden.
The garden is filled with all sorts of different blooming flowers, like a different types of chrysanthemum flowers (kiku), lespedeza (hagi), pampas grasses (susuki), and asters (nogkiku).
The multi-coloured painting is set on a paper background, and the flowers are painted by using shell paste (gofun) in low relief.
Surrounded by two silk borders, a beige thin one, and a moss green broad one with a swan motif. Protected by a black lacquer frame.
The folding screen is ideal for mounting flat on a wall and presenting as a single work of art.
