Large C19th Japanese Silk & Bamboo Screen or Room Divider

About the Item

Large C19th Japanese silk and bamboo screen. A truly superb four-fold room divider with silk panels depicting a forest scene with birds and flowers. Each panel features a bamboo crown with faded gilt details, embroidered edging and decorative, fabric covered hinges. The screen is in very good and sturdy condition with some wear consistent with age. A few circular bamboo caps are missing and there is wear to two of the feet, but the screen is solid and very sturdy. The front silk panels, which were added in the 1920s, are in excellent condition.
