Kitagawa Utamaro Japanese Woodblock Print Wakaume of the Tamaya Edo-cho itchome

About the Item

A beautifully composed and subtly colored Japanese woodblock print featuring a high-ranking noblewoman and her young attendant. The work is by Kitagawa Utamaro and is titled "Wakaume of the Tamaya in Edo-cho itchome, and her child attendants Mumeno and Iroka (Edo-cho itchome, Tamaya uchi Wakaume Mumeno Iroka)" The print has a beautiful Mica background which helps to illuminate its subjects. This is likely a later printing of the original work done in 1793/94. From an impressive collection of Japanese artworks and prints (of which we will be listing other prints). Would be a great addition to any Japanese art or print collection or an eye-catching stand-alone accent piece once framed. Dimensions: 16" high, 10.5" wide
