Kiyoshi Saito Signed & Sealed Japanese Woodblock Print Winter in Aizu the Skiers
About the Item
This beautifully composed woodblock print featuring two skiers on a snowy pathway as a solidary figure passes in the foreground is by famed Japanese master printmaker/artist Kiyoshi Saito. Many consider Saito to be one of the most important, if not the most important, contemporary Japanese printmakers of the 20th century. This work is from Saito's Winter In Aizu series (his hometown) in the early 1960s and is often referred to as "The Skiers". The complex design and bold rich colors make this a very engaging work.
