Kiyoshi Saito Signed & Sealed Japanese Woodblock Print Dachshund (B) Dog Sitting

About the Item

This beautifully and playfully composed woodblock print featuring a dachshund dog (also known as the wiener dog or sausage dog) is by famed Japanese master printmaker/artist Kiyoshi Saito. Many consider Saito to be one of the most important, if not the most important, contemporary Japanese printmakers of the 20th century. This work is titled "Dachshund (B) Sitting" and is from a small series of images that Saito did on this particular breed of dog - this image in our opinion is the most whimsical and emblematic of this dog's personality. The simple composition, sophisticated use of the woodblock grain to highlight the design, and bold rich colors make this a very engaging work. The print is signed in white ink and sealed/stamped in red within the image by Saito. Would be a great addition to any Saito collectors or Japanese/ Asian print collection or make for an eye-catching stand-alone accent artwork in about any setting. The print is framed and ready to display. Frame dimensions: 13.25" high, 18.5" wide, .5" deep. Viewable art: 9.5" high x 14.75" wide. Saito's work has been exhibited extensively and can be found in galleries and museums throughout the world including: Achenbach Foundation, Palace of the Legion of Honor, San Francisco Art Institute of Chicago Cincinnati Art Museum Fukushima Prefectural Museum of Art Kanagawa Prefectural Museum Los Angeles County Museum of Art Miami Art Museum Museum of Fine Arts, Boston Museum of Modern Art, New York City National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo New York Public Library Philadelphia Museum of Art
