About the Item

A wonderfully alluring, mesmerizing, vibrantly colored abstract screenprint (screen print) by Japanese American artist Kyohei Inukai (1913-1985). Born Earle Goodenow, Kyohei Inukai was the third son of established portrait painter Kyohei Inukai the Elder and sculptor Lucene Goodenow. When his father died, Earle Goodenow became Kyohei Inukai as a way to honor him. Inukai is best known for his abstract oil paintings, sumi ink paintings and boldly colored silkscreens composed of geometric shapes. Inukai's work is starting to gain interest again. He had a solo show in 2023 at the Japan Society in New York which featured some 100 plus works by the artist, dating from the late 1960s through the year of his passing in 1985. This limited edition work, which closely resembles his" Egg with Target" and Spiral paintings, is signed within the image and numbered 31/50 (the edition number was located on tag on the original back board which has since been replaced with a new acid free board but we managed to photograph it before it was discarded). The print is ready to display and newly framed with new glass. Would be a great addition to any Modern or Japanese abstract art collection or make for an eye catching stand alone artwork in about any setting.
