Paul Jacoulet Japanese Surimono Woodblock Print Le Nid, Coree the Nest, Korea

About the Item

A fantastic surimono woodblock print by French artist Paul Jacoulet titled "Le Nid, Coree." Jacoulet was famed for his techniques involving lacquers, embossing, mica, and metal pigments, and with experimentations with powdered semi-precious stones. These authentic smaller, more personalized prints, known as surimonos, were made after designs of his regular, larger woodblocks and often given to friends or local dignitaries as presents or introductions to his work. Jacoulet's seal within the image, printed title and artist name in the bottom margin Would be a great addition to collectors of Jacoulet's work or Japanese art collection. The print was originally acquired many years ago in Okinawa, Japan and comes with a protective casing. It would be easily framed and matted if so desired. Approximate paper dimensions: 6" high, 4.5" wide.
