Tokoyuni III Kunisada Japanese Woodblock Print Wrestling Sumo for Charity

About the Item

A beautifully composed and richly colored woodblock print by renowned Japanese artist Tokoyuni III (AKA Utagawa Kunisada 1786-1864 and here referred to as "Ichiyusai") titled "Japanese Wrestling Sumo for Charity" features a clash between Sumo wrestlers performing in a large outdoor stadium venue with two colorfully clad referees and a multiple of transfixed spectators (the detail in the faces and expressions is quite amazing). This is a later printing of an original triptych work done in the mid to latter 1800s by Tokoyuni III. From an impressive collection of Japanese artworks and prints (of which we will be listing other prints). Would be a great addition to any Japanese art or print collection or an eye-catching stand-alone accent piece once framed. Mat dimensions: 12" high, 21.75" wide Print: 10.25" x 18.75"
