Antique Chinese Carved Blue Colour Glass Overlay Snuff Bottle Late Qing 19/20c

About the Item

Presenting a splendid antique Chinese snuff bottle, a fine example late Qing dynasty artistry. This piece features a delicate light blue glass overlay, gracefully carved in relief on a milk-white glass ground, creating a serene and harmonious visual effect reminiscent of sky meeting sea. The bottle is adorned with a dynamic scene of leaping carps, masterfully depicted above a border of crashing waves that encircle a raised footring, adding a layer of depth and movement to the piece. The carps, a traditional symbol of prosperity and good fortune, seem to dance above the waves, bringing a sense of vitality and fluidity to the design. It is topped with a ruby red glass stopper set in metal base, with a silver spoon attached. Adding a final touch of authenticity is a two-character green incised mark at the base, filled meticulously to form a circular seal that reads "Great Qing", a testament to the piece's historical and cultural significance. This snuff bottle, with its blend of artistry and symbolism, promises to be a cherished addition to any collection, offering a tangible connection to China's rich artistic heritage. weight: 54 Grams circa: 1890-1910, late 19c to early 20c, late Qing Dynasty
