Japanese Old Appreciation Stone/Scholars Stone/Mountain Landscape Figurine

About the Item

I would like to introduce some wonderful stones mined in Japan. This is probably a stone produced in Shizuoka Prefecture or Wakayama Prefecture. It is believed that the quarrying and production of the pedestal date from the beginning of the 20th century. It has a strong shape with white calcareous streaks here and there. In addition, wrinkles unique to such stones appear on the surface of the stone. There are unevenness on the entire stone skin and it is very three-dimensional. The stone has a unique speckled pattern which is also beautiful. The stones are embedded in hardened clay mixed with sand and integrated with a wooden plinth. Also, the pedestal is also very splendid, and the back side is stamped by the person who carved it. Such stones for appreciation are collectively called "suiseki". Suiseki means "water" and "stone". The name comes from the fact that I enjoyed pouring water on the stones and changing the color of the stones. And this item is also Suiseki, but it is for viewing without splashing water. The size is also 41 cm wide, so it is powerful. You will feel like you are looking at a calm rocky mountain. How about decorating your room as one of the interior decorations? Highly recommended. • Japanese antique appreciation stone/penis-shaped stone/strange stone
    Located in Sammu-shi, Chiba
We have a unique Japanese aesthetic sense. And only we can introduce unique items through our purchasing channels in Japan and the experience we have gained so far, in such a way that no one else can imitate. This is a stone carved in the image of an old Japanese male genitalia. There is a possibility that it was a natural stone that had been carved by the running water of a river for a long time, but it is more likely that it was carved artificially. In Japan, objects in the shape of male and female genitalia have been made for a long time. The materials used are stone and wood. In the case of stone, some are made from 3,000 yen to 4,000 years ago. At that time, it was used in ceremonies to pray for the prosperity of descendants. In the case of this stone, it was probably dedicated to shrines and village shrines in hopes of prosperity of descendants. This stone is believed to be from before the Edo period. Because two types of rocks are mixed, the color contrast is beautiful. I prepared the pedestal. Also, there are some shallow cracks, but there is no need to worry about breaking the stone. Wooden penises...

  • Abstract Scholar Rock Viewing Stone on Wood Stand
    Located in Atlanta, GA
On offer is a large and expressive scholar rock on a fitted wood stand collected by an American collector in Palm Desert, CA circa 1980s. The deep grey boulder is likely granite and takes a wonderful natural form of a mountain peak. The dark matrix is dramatically intercepted with strokes of white veins, that looks like an abstract painting by Franz Kine. The rock is presented in the tradition of a Chinese scholar rock (Gong Shi) on a fitted carved wood stand, but it strikes the viewer as a modern and abstract version. While Chinese scholar stones are appreciated all over the world, many collectors also look into their local stone sources that reflect the same spirit and philosophy of using the viewing stone...

  • Abstract Scholar Rock Viewing Stone on Wood Stand

On offer is a highly abstract scholar rock on a fitted wood stand collected by an American collector in Palm Desert, CA. The dense rock in dark grey is likely granite and takes a natural sculptural form of a bird, which explains the note on the back from the previous collector "A Constantin Brancusi Bird". The rock is presented in the tradition of a Chinese scholar rock on a fitted carved wood stand, very sculptural and visually interesting from different angles. While Chinese scholar stones are appreciated all over the world, many collectors also look into their local stone sources that reflect the same spirit and philosophy of using the viewing stone...
