Japanese "Suiseki" Mountain View Scholar's Old Stone / Appreciation Stone

About the Item

Suiseki is a Japanese culture and hobby of appreciating stones indoors. Appreciate by arranging natural stones on a pedestal or a ceramic board with sand. Suiseki means "water" and "stone". There is a legend that if you sprinkle water on the stones in the basin, the color will darken and it will look beautiful, so it is called this way. This suiseki is placed on a wooden pedestal for viewing. Basically, the objects of appreciation are those that have been quarried in their natural state without being touched by human hands. And this is also a natural stone that has not been processed, but it is a very magnificent and powerful stone that expresses the rocky mountain itself. It also has a nice reddish color and a green color that is beautiful. I think that the stone is probably a stone called "Shiun-Seki" quarried in Kyoto. There are various colors such as purple and black. The rock type is hard limestone. The surface is very smooth, probably scraped by the running water of the river for a long time. The bottom part has been cut off for placement on the pedestal. However, the cross-section of the bottom also gives a good idea of the color of this stone. Both sides are beautifully appreciated and I never get tired of it. Also, there is a small chip in the part marked with a red circle. How about decorating your room with wonderful stones quarried in Japan? Weight: 10.7kg

This is a stone mined in Japan. Not only in China but also in Japan from ancient times, rocks in the mountains have been shaved and stones for viewing have been quarried. Such stones for appreciation are collectively called "suiseki". Suiseki means "water" and "stone". The name comes from the fact that I enjoyed pouring water on the stones and changing the color of the stones. And this item is also Suiseki, but it is for viewing without splashing water. It is made with the image of a mountain view. The flow of the river...
