18th Century Chinese Stone Artefact
About the Item
This double sided hitching post was used to stall horses for short period of times. They are found throughout China and made during centuries. This hardstone example dates from the 18th century and is sculpted from one block of solid granit. It has great patina throughout and has a timeless feel about it.
Out of its original context this object feels like a abstract, almost brutalist, sculpture.
