19th Century Carved Wood Panel Fragment of Lotus
About the Item
A solid wood panel with deep relief carvings of lotus in various stages of blooming. A pair of birds with one in motion of landing and the other on the ground echoing each other. On red lacquered background is a field of water irises with their elegant blade like leaves creating contrast to the round shapes of lotus leaves and flowers. Such a scene symbolizes peace and harmony. All original.
