A beautiful solid camphor wood statue of the legendary Buddhist monk Bodhidharma (Damo), who is believed to be the saint who introduced Buddhism to China, Damo represents "dharma of awakening". Realistically modeled, bald with beard of small curls, deep-set downcast eyes and severe wrinkles, all symbolizing empathy for sufferings, with compassionate, poignant countenance. Both hands together in namaskara mudra expressing acceptance and prayer. This finely carved piece uses prized fragrant camphor wood, combines traditionally value and modern aesthetics in one. 2.4 lb.
