19th Century Oriental Wooden Toad Opium Incense Secret Box

About the Item

An unusual 19th century oriental wooden toad. The carved amphibian crouching on a red wooden base, its body encrusted with warts the odd one is missing , a small red carved amphibian at its mouth. The toad has a cavity in its back with sliding lid, a small square socket in the back of the neck, possibly an opium container or incense holder.
