Antique Ceremonial Incense Burner Dragon and Phoenix

$1,550

About

A beautiful, unique Chinese ceremonial incense burner. The pot starts with an open lotus design, followed by a pair of circling dragon and phoenix decorating the body and two ancient form birds acting as handles. A coiled dragon on the lid highlights the ceremonial purpose of the burner. Dragon is symbol of the Chinese emperor, the phoenix the empress. The lid is quite elaborate with a small dragon head on each side, between a band of eternity motifs and pierced peony patterns. Signed and stamped.
