About the Item
A vintage Indonesian hair comb, hand-carved in bone, Mid 20th Century, circa 1950. Used as a decorative accent for tribal hairstyles among islanders in several regions of Southeast Asia, including Borneo, Timor and Bali.
While the designs are traditional and used in many pieces throughout the region, no two combs are exactly alike, due to the fact that they are hand-made from original animal bone, which varies in shape, color and texture.
13 in. high, 8" wide, mounted on a made-to-measure stand.
