Japanese Edo Carved Wood Foo Dogs

About the Item

Japanese Edo period pair of foo dogs in delicately carved wood. The dogs have uniquely expressive faces, one with open mouth, the other with closed mouth and elaborate manes and tails. Made in Japan during the Edo period (1603-1868), in circa 1750. In remarkable antique condition with age-appropriate wear and use.
