Japanese Imperial Coronation Hinamatsuri Doll Diorama

About the Item

Charming diorama, circa 1990s, representing the coronation of Emperor Akihito, born 1933, the 125th Emperor of Japan who ruled from 1989 until his abdication in 2019. With hand-painted ceramic bodies dressed in traditional jacquard fabric clothing in a palace scene, with electric lamp and musical box. With Japan Hina Doll Association label sticker. Hinamatsuri, also called Dolls Day, is a religious holiday in Japan, celebrated on the third of March.
