A slender tall granite stone Buddha/Jizo Guardian sculpture perched upon a lotus base
Good garden candidate
In Japan, Kṣitigarbha, known as Jizō, or respectfully as Ojizō-sama, is one of the most loved of all Japanese divinities. His statues are a common sight, especially by roadsides and installed in privatee shrines.
This handsome hand carved example is sculpted from solid dark to medium granite stone, still retains much of its fine detailsa and and dates to the early to mid 20th century.
Its a good garden candidate with an authentic and sublime spiritual aura.
Fine condition with overall softening of the lines and contours.
Handsomely weathered from appropriate age.

Jizo Bosatsu is one of the most beloved of all Japanese divinities, Jizo works to ease the suffering and to answer the prayers of the living for health, success, children, and all manner of mundane petitions. In modern Japan, Jizo is a savior par excellence, a friend to all. He is notably a protector of travelers and children.
