A small vintage bronze cast sculpture from the mid 20th century depicting a praying Buddhist monk sitting on a base and holding an offering bowl. Created with the traditional technique of the lost-wax (à la cire perdue) which allows for great precision and finesse in the details, this vintage bronze statue depicts a praying Buddhist monk sitting on a base, preciously holding an offering bowl. Having placed the bowl on his left hand, the monk is protecting the content with his right one. He is peacefully looking upwards, in a prayerful attitude. He is dressed with a thin robe uncovering his right shoulder, the fabric falling delicately on his left side. He is sitting on a base in a single lotus position.
