French Pair of 18th Century Wrought Iron Gothic Andirons

About the Item

A monumental pair of French hand-forged, wrought iron fireplace andirons, made in the 18th century if not earlier. They are Gothic in style with a reddish brown patina from oxidation of the iron and centuries of exposure to high heat. The hefty andirons have spit hooks protruding from the front to cook food over the fire, and shallow wells at the top for keeping bowls or beverages warm. Please note both back legs have been repaired, view the detailed images to see more. Sold as a pair.
