The design is where they started and this downward arching shape with the barley twist pilars carved out of solid oak supporting it, makes this design very attractive and decorative. Because of its design you can easily pull this bench away from your fireplace when you are getting too warm. There are a few spots where you can see that some wood sparks have left some marks on the oak base. This rare antique is in superb condition, but it is that type of wear combined with its warm and beautiful patina that prove that this remarkable bench already had a long life and that is was used and enjoyed by generations before us.
