About the Item

Unique one of a kind, artist William Conrad Severson lead crow sculpture and granite garden bird bath fountain. Commission by local art collectors for their home garden in the latter 1970s. Water trough is 9.63" dia x 5" d , bird is 12" x 7" x 4.5" The Eames used the Crow motif in their house, for furniture ads and brochures. A crow is a bird of the genus Corvus, or more broadly, a synonym for all of Corvus. The word "crow" is used as part of the common name of many species. Severson was born in Madison Wisconsin, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madsion. Internationally known, he began his career in the late 1950's as a sculptor of corporate, institutional, liturgical & private commissions. His sculptures can be seen in 28 states & in Saudi Arabia, Singapore & Moscow. He was a co-founder & former president of the St. Louis Sculptors Gallery & the first artist-in-residence at the Missouri Council of the Arts program. Many of his works - which were done in stainless steel, copper, bronze, lead, concrete, wood and stone. One of his last major sculptures, the Millennium Spire, is located in Belleville, Illinois.
