About the Item
Powerful Hand Carved Sculptoral Work of Art, "Chimera"
This powerful old mythical winged sculpture could be installed in your favorite home, office, or garden space. Some western scholars of Chinese art use the word "chimera" generically to refer to winged leonine or mixed species quadrupeds, such as bixie, tianlu, and even qilin- a sacred and auspicious beast from Chinese mythology, first recorded in the Bao Pu Zi (抱朴子 bào pǔ zi), a text that was believed to have been written sometime between 317-420 ADE. It is a symbolic omen of all that is good and brings joy to all that gaze upon it.
