Very uncommon antique Rojo Alicante round marble column on hand-carved stone Corinthian capital.
One solid piece, not separate.
Total height from floor 24 inches.
Column diameter 11 inches.
Square capital base 17.5 inches by 17.5 inches.
Very heavy. 250 - 300 pounds.
Comes with two cast metal cup dollies.
Can be used inverted as well. See detail photo of underside which is coarse and not polished.

This work evokes a great deal of tenderness from the viewer. The girl, dressed in drapery that seems to want to slip off her body at any moment, holds in her arms a frightened puppy seeking protection.
