About the Item

This large, antique metal grapes harvest basket was created in the Vallee du Rhone, France, circa 1870. The galvanized metal grape picker's hotte/hod basket is hand-painted with colorful stenciled inscriptions, including the "Chateauneuf-du-Pape" logo with Saint Peter's keys and papal tiara. The Classic piece is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and flaunts a beautiful, oxidized and old patina. This piece would make a true statement in a wine cellar or simply hanging in a kitchen filled with dry flowers! Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a French wine located around the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the Rhône wine region in south eastern France. It is one of the most renowned appellations of the southern part of the Rhône valley. Measures: 23" W x 17.25" D x 24.75" H.

Crafted in Montigny-sur-Loing, France circa 1860, the colorful basket has a central handle and features a double vase decorated with floral and leaf motifs in high relief. The elegant, artistic planter with flowers is in excellent condition and has rich, pigmented colors in a blue, black, green and pink palette. Different markings on the bottom.
