About the Item
We kindly suggest that you read the entire description, as with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects.
Original and iconic molded glass bowl; its shape is simple and decisive, cleverly proportioned, the result of intelligent aesthetic reflection in pure Art Dèco style; although it bears no signature (in this type of bowl it happened often) we can say with certainty that it was produced in France between 1930 and 1935 by Pierre D'Avesn, an artist who at that time worked at the Daum glassworks, where he developed an innovative molded glass technique, obtaining pieces of amazing transparency and brilliance like our bowl. Pierre d'Avesn was born in 1901 and initially worked at Rene Lalique for 10 years. During this time, he designed Lalique's famous "Snake" vase and the "Tourbillons" vase, two of "Lalique's" most expensive collectibles. In 1926, he left René Lalique and created his own designs; from 1930 to 1936 he was a valuable and creative collaborator with the Daum Firm; later he had his creations produced at the Cristalleries de Saint-Remy. Considered the elite of the last Art Deco glassmakers, he died at the age of 90. The bowl is in good condition. Measurements diameter cm.18, height cm.9. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
