About the Item
We kindly suggest that you read the entire description, as with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to ensure the authenticity of our objects.
Original and iconic molded glass flower bowl; the round, pierced glass for placing flowers is removable, so the object can also be used as a bowl or ashtray. Its shape is simple and decisive, cleverly proportioned, the result of intelligent aesthetic reflection; to obtain the beautiful yellow coloration, a mixture of Sulfur and Cadmium Sulfide was added during the fusion of the glass; the bowl, in Art Deco style, was produced in France between 1930 and 1935 by Pierre D'Avesn, an artist who at that time worked at the Daum glassworks, where he developed an innovative technique of molded glass, obtaining pieces of amazing transparency and brilliance like our bowl. Pierre d'Avesn was born in 1901 and initially worked at Rene Lalique for 10 years. During this time, he designed Lalique's famous "Snake" vase and the "Tourbillons" vase, two of "Lalique's" most expensive collectibles. In 1926, he left René Lalique and created his designs; from 1930 to 1936 he was a valuable and creative collaborator with the Daum Firm; later he had his creations produced at the Cristalleries de Saint-Remy. Considered the elite of the last Art Deco glassmakers, he died at the age of 90. Measures diameter cm.18, height cm.9. The flower bowl is in excellent condition, the artist's mark is on the bottom and is legible (see photo). For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
