About the Item
A large and stylish studio pottery bowl decorated with an abstract feather patterned design in a grey powdered glaze by David Leach (1911-2005) and probably dating from his early days at Lowerdown around 1960. The bowl thrown in red clay stands on an unglazed narrow rounded foot with the body decorated in grey glazes and the incised feather designs to the inside bowl and with an impressed LD monogram to the base.
Provenance: acquired from the Trevor Coldrey Collection
In good condition with a small firing flaw section overpainted to the rim, probably by David himself.
