About the Item

A rare find for collectors and enthusiasts, An extra-large exquisite Georg Jensen sterling silver centerpiece punch/ice ice bowl or wine cooler, design #268a, by Johan Rohde.  This is an enormous and extremely early piece of Georg Jensen hollowware. A stunning and very rare piece with its innovative art nouveau design, this Jardinière demonstrates early indications of the emerging art deco movement, making it a truly groundbreaking piece for its time. Johan Rohde, renowned for his forward-thinking approach as a designer, showcases his visionary talent in this stunning creation from 1917. The centerpiece is crafted in a round bowl shape, featuring a flaring rim that adds a touch of elegance. One of the standout features of this piece is the meticulously applied hand chased bead-and-strap work lattice adorning the sides of the bowl. This intricate technique requires exceptional skill and precision to fabricate, further accentuating the craftsmanship of this Jardinière. Resting on four gracefully scrolling bracket feet, the bowl stands on a stepped base, beautifully centered by a bud finial. Adding to its functional appeal, four loophole rings are attached, allowing for convenient lifting of the bowl. These subtle yet thoughtful details enhance both the aesthetics and practicality of the piece. This piece represents a significant piece of art history and a testament to the ingenuity of Johan Rohde, making it a collectors item for any discerning admirer of Georg Jensen's sterling silver masterpieces. This piece is the largest piece in the center of the second image. Dimensions: H: 8 1/2" (22.5cm) and a diameter of 13 1/2" (34.5 cm). Weight: an impressive 103,45 ounces (2,933 grams) Hallmark: as early as nearly possible, this piece has a 1919 date stamp as well as import hallmarks to Sweden. *We proudly present all three sizes available in this exceptionally rare design. This is the largest bowl in the second image.
