About the Item

Rare very large bowl by Marianne Starck for the famous Danish ceramic studio Michael Andersen & Søn. Made ca. 1960s. The bowl can also be hung on the wall. It features a hand painted decor with a couple in love sitting on a branch. It´s made in Persia technique, a special crackle technique developed by David Andersen from Michael Andersen & Søn (Son) in the 1920s. Due to the production process and because it´s handmade not one piece looks like an other. This piece has an especially beautiful colorplay in our eyes. About the artist Marianne Starck (1938-2007) was the artistic leader at Michael Andersen & Søn for decades. She was from Northern Germany and came to MA&S in the 1950s. She stayed there until it closed in 1993. She was a very innovative and versatile artist and created many iconic designs for the ceramic workshop. Fully marked on bottom. Marked with MS for Marianne Starck. Excellent vintage condition.
