Glass Dish 20K "Caplain Leaf"
About the Item
This beauty is a one of a kind it will never be duplicated as it was a massive undertaking. This piece was up-cycled to be rescued. The glass had a spray paint on it's surface which was removed, the glass was cleaned up and prepped to be water gilded. "Caplain" leaf from Manetti of Florence was used. This rich and warm tone of silver color consists of 80%gold4%Silver,12%Palladium,4%Platinum.
A French gilder with 25 years of experience of working on outdoor sculptures and interior restorations for the most important buildings in NYC and along the East Coast leafed this. After the dish was leafed, it was then transported covered in a wool/cotton batting for protection. At this step a top coat of varnish is applied 2-3 times or as needed.
Next, an Artisan with 28 years experience doing pave work got this. The crystals used are from the most prestigious crystal manufacturer in the world. First the larger size crystal was set then the smaller stones were attached, all one at a time as close together as possible. The outcome is stunning! When the light hits this it is a light show of dancing crystals. A certain conversation piece.
