Japanese Contemporary Gilded Gold Porcelain Decorative Plate
About the Item
Contemporary Japanese decorative porcelain plate in green, red and gold showcasing an Imperial couple or "Dairibina" on a fan shaped panel in gold surrounded by cherry blossoms. In Japan, the dolls of the imperial couple are the main part of the "Hina-Ningyo" or "Hina Dolls" that will be displayed for the Doll festival on March third, a day for young girls. This tradition dates back to Heian Era and the dolls were believed to protect the girls from the bad spirits. The Hina dolls are displayed in households with girls every year for a month starting on March third.
