About the Item

This stunning decorative ceramic plate was manufactured by Bernardaud et Cie in Limoges, France, with an original design by Pablo Picasso. The plate represents an iconic work by the Spanish Artist Pablo Picasso (1881-1973), under license from the Picasso Foundation. The ceramic plate features a silkscreen print made with black ceramic glaze. The design features Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, the famous heroes from the eponymous book "Don Quixote," a Spanish novel by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. Written in the 1600s, it is one of the most influential works from the Spanish Golden Age and remains a classic. The design is signed and dated: Picasso 16.03.55. Bernardaud et Cie produced this decorative plate in a limited edition circa 2004. The plate is marked on the underside with the hand-written Picasso signature along with the earthenware factory logo. The plate is in excellent condition, with no traces of use. Measurements: 9.88 in diameter (25 cm) x 1.19 in high (3 cm).
