An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver castle top vinaigrette depicting Windsor castle; an addition to our collectable box collection
This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver vinaigrette has a rectangular shaped form.
An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver castle top vinaigrette depicting Windsor castle; an addition to our collectable box collection
The sides of the box and cover are encompassed with a continuous band of leaf ornamentation.
The underside of this English silver vinaigrette is ornamented with chased scrolling leaf decoration incorporating a central vacant cartouche.
Both the base and cover are embellished with applied scrolling leaf decorated borders.
The hinged silver vinaigrette cover allows access to the original hallmarked hinged, pierced floral and leaf decorated silver gilt grille and original gilded interior.
The vinaigrette retains the original gilding; this has worn with age in a sympathetic fashion to an aesthetically pleasing mellow colour.
The residence of the British Royal family at Windsor, distinguishable by its Victorian architecture.
Condition
This antique English silver vinaigrette is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.
The applied decoration is very sharp.
Full hallmarks struck to the interior of base and cover are all very clear.
