An Italian 19th century lidded beechwood box, an antique food storage container suitable for dried legumes, as per the Italian inscription FAVE GRECHE, meaning Greek Beans, a common food throughout the Mediterranean territories. Magnificent circular wooden container (larch base and birch lid) for food storage. This Italian antique box is hand-realized in an almost circular shape, it is in good age related condition, with a lovely original Siena yellow, ocher painting, green profiles and polychrome decorations flanking the inscription. The bottom is made of poplar wood. This lovely antique Italian handmade box for collectors comes from a private Italian residence in Tuscany and would be a must have for a country rustic kitchen. Measures: Height 14.3 cm, diameter 21.5 cm Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago requires a governative license for export called Belle Arti. The shipping may require additional 2/3 handling weeks to require and get the license according to the final destination of the artwork.
