Unique and colorful antique box for all kinds of purposes. In the earliest years of the 1900s highly skilled craftsmen all over Europe began creating unique and colorful works of art. They were passionate about re-introducing the quality, style and beauty of hand-crafted pieces and bringing these pieces back into people's homes for every day usage. This movement of craftsmen was fed up with the dull and mass produced items that were fludding people's homes in that age of industrialisation. Judging from the size and the inside of this box, we are pretty certain that it was made for a hand-worker. What we, as Dutch, like the most is that this Arts and Crafts box is like an ode to our flower culture and with the four stylized tulips on top, the artisan could not have picked a more Dutch flower. The Friese carvings with numerous other, stylized floral motifs, the brass chain that keeps the lid in place when opened and the perfect and top quality brass hinges on the back are just some of the other features that make this original, antique workmanship box an absolute joy to own, use and look at.
