Biscuit tin made by Hunter and Palmer depicting an Indian carved box. English

About the Item

This rare survivor, a novelty Hunter and Palmer biscuit tin made from pressed sheet metal and transferred printed to accurately look like a genuine 19th century Indian hardwood box. It is carved with elephants and foliage in the central panels and boardered and inlaid with ivory and coloured veneers. This type of item was produced in Ceylon. This rare tin is in very good condition. It retains a high degree of original colour and detail with a working clasp and hinges. English, circa 1900 Height 10 cm x width 26cm x depth 19 cm
