A Russian lacquered box with a portrait of a beautiful young woman circa 1920
About the Item
This superb small box most likely intended for jewellery, rings or cufflinks was made in Russia, circa 1920. It is in remarkable original condition and it has been precisely made in heavy dense timber and finished with a black lacquered exterior and a rich red interior. The superb brass hinged top is beautifully hand painted with a stunning portrait of a very pretty young woman with her hair tied up with a red ribbon showing her elegant neck and wearing a flattering blue gown. She has her head turned to the side showing her beautiful face and amazing eyes which are looking straight at you with a captivating glance. The portrait is signed in red in the right lower corner of the top. In very good condition, circa 1920
