This is a small vintage decorative jewellery box. A Chinese, lacquer and soapstone keepsake case with mirror, dating to the Art Deco period, circa 1940.
Fascinatingly presented box with deep lacquered finish and brightwork
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good original order
Case finished in black lacquer with contrasting golden brass tonality
Lid adorned with soapstone bird and foliate decor in relief
Interior opens to a shock of scarlet red, staying upright upon a brass swing hinge
Lid reverse features a small mirror, featuring the original plate with minor foxing
Square cushioned compartment with a 5 groove ring box to the side
Case held closed with a bold brass clasp, decorated with foliate motif
