18th Century, English Georgian Lead Tobacco Keeper - Horse Finial

About the Item

English, mid 18th century. A great neoclassical example of an English community tobacco keeper. These traditional boxes are made of lead and designed to hold a group of individuals tobacco and not for a single person. This form is unusual with the wreaths and equestrian finial. Includes original interior lid.
