An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver vinaigrette modelled in the form of a book; an addition to our silver boxes collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver vinaigrette has been realistically modelled in the form of a book. The body of this antique silver vinaigrette is embellished with impressive engraved scrolling leaf decoration, in addition to ribbed designs replicating the spine and pages of the book. The box is fitted with a hinged hallmarked cover embellished with further scrolling leaf decoration, incorporating a vacant cartouche to the center. The hinged silver vinaigrette cover allows access to the original hallmarked hinged pierced decorated gilt grille, ornamented with finely pierced and engraved floral decoration. This antique silver book vinaigrette retains the original gilding to the interior. This impressive Victorian vinaigrette is the finest example of its type you could hope to acquire. Condition This antique silver book vinaigrette is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The engraved decoration is all very crisp and the pierced ornamentation is very crisp. Full hallmarks to the interior, and part hallmarks to the reverse of the grille are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from this fine example of Victorian silverware.
